How do you use Essential Oils?
There are 3 ways to use essential oils: Aromatic through diffusing (diffusers do not require any carrier oil), Topical, or Internal. It is important that you follow all usage guidelines for an oil regardless of the method.
Diffusing is the safest method of using an essential oil. Diluting an essential oil (EO) with a carrier oil doesn’t change an EO’s effectiveness! Applying EO’s topically can be very effective but essential oils should first be diluted in a carrier oil. Ingestion is the final method of accessing the benefits of EO’s. There are many guidelines for ingesting EO’s and safety precautions must be used.
Aromahead Institute says, “Essential oils may be safely used internally if you have appropriate medical guidance by a trained clinical aromatherapist who understands pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, appropriate formulation techniques, and the safety issues related to each route of application.”
